Can you believe she’s turning 94 in January? She says she’ll keep teaching until age 100. What a champ!

The Unstoppable Grandma Who's Making Japan Sweat

Warning! You may rethink everything you thought you knew about aging.

Picture this: It's 3 AM in Tokyo, and while most people are sound asleep, Grandma Takashima (or "Takimika" as her fans call her) is already lacing up her running shoes. You might think she's crazy – but wait until you hear her story!

"I was just a regular grandma who needed to lose a few pounds," she chuckles, remembering the day her husband commented on her weight. That comment changed everything. Instead of feeling hurt, she decided to hit the gym – at age 65!

But here's where it gets interesting.

While most people her age were slowing down, Takimika was just getting started. By 87 (yes, you read that right!), she wasn't just going to the gym – she was teaching there!

"My students can't believe their eyes when I show them what I can do," she grins. And what can she do? Hold onto your hats: Every morning, she walks 4 kilometers, jogs 3 more, and then walks another kilometer – backwards!

Want to know her secret? It's simpler than you'd think. Every morning, she fuels up with a traditional Japanese breakfast – grilled fish, nattō (fermented soybeans), eggs, and plenty of vegetables. No fancy supplements or crazy diet tricks here!

"Age is just a number," she loves to say, and boy, does she prove it! When other people her age are asking for help with their groceries, Takimika is leading two-hour workout classes that would make people half her age break a sweat.

But what makes this grandma truly special isn't just her amazing fitness level – it's her heart of gold.

Oxygen “Burns” Fat

Scientists have found a way to use oxygen to help people lose weight and feel better.

Lets learn how they do it

Some smart scientists wanted to see if breathing extra oxygen could help rats lose weight. So they put rats in rooms with more oxygen than usual. Some rats stayed in these rooms for 3 hours a day, and others for 6 hours a day.

What happened next was shocking…

  • Fat Loss: The rats that got extra oxygen lost more weight than the ones that didn't. Cool, right?

  • Healthy Blood: The extra oxygen also helped some rats have healthier blood.

  • Protected Heart and Kidney: The scientists found that breathing extra oxygen for 3 hours a day was good for the rats' hearts and kidneys.

  • BUT BE CAREFUL: They learned that too much of a good thing can be bad. When rats breathed extra oxygen for 6 hours a day, it wasn't so great for their livers.

How is this useful?

While we're not rats, this study shows that oxygen might be a helpful tool for staying healthy. Maybe one day, doctors will use special oxygen rooms to help people lose weight and feel better!

I’m no doctor, but I study daily. The best ways to stay healthy are eating healthy, socializing, exercising, and getting plenty of good sleep. Takashima Mika is a PERFECT example of this. =)
